Asian Orange Sauce
As someone who enjoys anything citrus, I finally got around to making Chinese inspired Orange Sauce. The original plan was to make orange chicken but shrimp happens [happened]. 😆 This sauce is quick and easy to make. Random fact: Who doesn’t like orange juice?! …Me. Still can’t drink it to this day, it doesn’t fall under my ‘if I can’t see through it, I can’t drink it’ rule – which milk and other goodness are exempt but for reasons. Prepare this pantry-friendly orange sauce in no time.
- Rinse the orange thoroughly (remove the sticker) and pat dry. Zest about half of the orange and set aside. Cut in half and juice the orange. Set the zest and juice aside.
- Mince garlic clove and place into pan on medium-high heat. Whisk all ingredients into pan. Stir intermittently for 5 minutes. The sauce will reduce over time, keep an eye on it for your desired thickness.
Use the orange sauce for dipping or glazing. This time around I lightly breaded and pan-fried shrimp and served with ramen. Maybe next time I’ll actually get around to making orange chicken.
